There are a zillion different desktop computers.  The key is to stick with one platform and vendor for a school district.  It makes service much easier.

Stick with the district standard... it makes buying printer cartridges much more economical.  I like the Canon i960 because you can replace just 1 color cartridge at a time.  I read once that this particular printer was the one of the cheapest printers per page printed.
